Ensō
Food is not merely a physical necessity; it is an emotional one. Traditional family dinners and shared lunches have often become nothing more than nostalgic memories. Our inability to enjoy a meal alone is often the result of our partial or total absence during the act of eating.
ensō, a porcelain set, consists of small bowls, dessert plates, soup and main course plates, and vessels for hot and cold drinks. Using these objects, one can compose an original architecture upon the table. Through their form, the individual pieces motivate the user to experience moments such as a drop of coffee trickling down the side of a cup, or licking the last remains off a plate when no one is watching. They support what is natural to us and highlight our hidden 'vices'.
In its design, ensō is a discreet companion—always available, yet blending seamlessly into the environment when no longer needed.
