Empty city
Through the work Empty City, I respond to the state we found ourselves in during the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation relegated us to digital formats that extended into original 'broken' structures to become their support. In this project, I expressed this moment by using software that prepares objects for 3D printing. The program automatically generates supports for inserted shards of tableware in areas that require them.
The objects become whole again, acquiring a new dimension with minimal designer intervention. When the scale is shifted, the act of dining transforms into a walk through a post-apocalyptic city, amidst architecture that transcends us. The composition thus becomes a metaphor for small moments, as well as the 'grand' everyday life.
