Erik VrábelDigital Nature & TechnologyEN/SK
Erik Vrábel’s work is defined by the intersection of sophisticated technical detail and an aesthetically refined interpretation of natural phenomena. The author focuses on the phenomenon of digital nature, transforming it into physical objects through precise technical execution. In doing so, he materializes fleeting occurrences, sensitizing the viewer and pulling their attention away from the virtual environment.
A hallmark of Erik’s practice is the theme of deceleration. His works utilize analog methods to simulate sunsets, birdsong, or the refraction of light, creating a parallel to organic processes. Erik does not merely construct machines; he creataes technological ecosystems that invite introspection and a re-evaluation of our relationship with technology. His approach has become significant within the design scene – after winning the Discovery of the Year award at BADW 2020, his work is regularly featured in the curatorial selections of leading international events. The author’s studies culminated in a solo exhibition titled 1.0 at the Zichy Gallery in Bratislava's Old Town.
