A fast-paced lifestyle and information overload, amplified by the ever-increasing penetration of digital technologies into the lives of the younger generation, result in rising levels of stress. The PIXEL project operates on the boundary between the digital and physical worlds, with the intention of slowing down and calming the observer's mind. It functions as a digital mirror that displays an image captured by a camera through a series of physical pixels. Stepper motors 'flip' colored plates into positions that correspond to the real-time image. Communication occurs with the observer, who, while being recorded by a digital device, perceives their abstracted image through the actual presence of sound, movement, and the color of the pixels. This helps them to pause for a moment and reconnect with physical reality through their senses.
