Design for design

This Master’s thesis explores the opinions of ordinary people regarding contemporary products and their design. The focus of the work emerged from observing the disconnect between actual consumer needs and current design trends. It appears that today, marketing and image are far more persuasive factors in purchasing decisions than function or genuine necessity. We frequently spend money on superfluities while genuine interest in the customer continues to diminish.

The thesis attempts to empathize with the customer and understand their true needs. The goal is not to seek solutions for oneself or from a personal designer's perspective, but for the consumer. It involves integrating the authenticity of lay reasoning into the design process and stepping away from the standard design trajectory.
