Superheroine

Pregnancy brings with it a multitude of changes and limitations, which I have had the opportunity to observe firsthand, in real-time. It is often incredible how hormones can shift one's thinking and behavior throughout the entire process. In this project, I depict myself as a superheroine.

Ordinary tasks now require significantly more effort from a pregnant woman; after simply tying my shoelaces, I feel as though I have conquered a monumental challenge. I also point to society and its perception of this state. The views of both sides often clash, as society holds certain expectations and ideals. When a pregnant woman feels she is not meeting them, it can lead to feelings of discomfort and guilt.

I have incorporated these feelings into three phases of a superhero cape's transformation, which can be adjusted according to one’s current emotions and needs.
