Applying Design Principles to Develop the Creative Potential of Individuals with Disabilities.
This diploma thesis is a continuation of the NANA project, which focuses on the collaboration between a designer and individuals with disabilities. In this current phase, I focused on my brother—someone I know intimately, understanding his fascinations, emotional bonds, and specific skills. We developed this collection of furniture elements together as an equal duo. The core components are colored rubber cords and thin elastic bands, which my brother enjoys weaving into various compositions, finding unconventional functional solutions. My role was to create structures where he could apply his unique vision of the world through colors and textures, allowing us a glimpse into his inner experience of the joy of creation. This collaborative method offers people with disabilities an opportunity for social integration, self-expression, and recognition. It is an alternative way of collective creation—enriching and inspiring for everyone involved.
