Personal project Summer survay 2025EN/SK
Definition
A personal project calls for sensitivity toward one’s surroundings, but also toward oneself as a creator. It can not only communicate a personal stance toward the world and oneself but also observe and reflect on what happens “somewhere in between.”
The Situation
A common part of the pedagogical process is the formulation of an assignment to which students react. Even when preserving the possibility of an individual approach, the process of solving the assignment is pre-defined and dictates its content. Formulating the assignment of one's own project is liberated from this. It is an opportunity to bring forth and discuss topics that are current for today’s young generation.
The Task
The task is to formulate one’s own assignment, which may concern current social themes or challenges; it may reflect a relationship to the studied discipline, the creative process itself, craftsmanship, technology, materiality, or dematerialization. However, an essential component is the conscious observation and reflection of the entire process—recognizing decisions that move the project forward, as well as hesitations and 'dead ends' that allow time for reconsideration. The output should be not only the final object (understood in a broad sense across the media spectrum) but also a visualization of the entire process that preceded it.
