Reflectarian's
The theme of objectification is projected onto creature-like objects that reflect on our behalf. In opposition to the objectification of humans, the project emphasizes inherently human capacities: observation, perception, experience, and contemplation—reflection. Can reflection be a function of design? How can it manifest? The project handles reflection both metaphorically and literally. The true form of these 'Reflectorians' is revealed only when we dare to break the established rules of exhibition spaces—by touching them or photographing them with a flash.
Through mutual interaction, a gradual exchange of functions occurs. The reflective layer is slowly rubbed off, scraped away, and transferred onto our hands and clothing. We literally begin to reflect, while the Reflectorians return to being mere objects once more.
