The Essential Human Unit
The Essential Human Unit project attempts to capture the essence of the 'human'. The installation represents a research unit deviating from the traditional perception of design as a tool serving exclusively human needs. Instead, it shifts the approach. The goal is not to dictate user behavior or satisfy consumerist whims, but to observe the body's natural manifestations in its surroundings without these typical inputs.
The material experiment works exclusively with plastic—a material that is both an absolute byproduct of human activity and a source of profound environmental issues. It seeks to mimic manifestations such as touch, loss of pigment, aging, tanning, and bruising. This visual study blurs the boundaries of the exclusively human and seeks alternatives for design creation. Perhaps one day these researched samples will serve another species, or their purpose will return to nature, thereby altering our exploitative approach to the environment. The intent is to re-evaluate the true purpose of human production and redirect it toward a more sustainable path.
