A series (serial) is a work consisting of several parts intertwined by the same elements (characters/features), released in installments.
Characteristics
The assignment is focused on creating a collection of products feasible for serial production, intended for a design shop and produced under the studio brand DOMÁCE POTREBY (Domestic essentials). It is a continuation of one of the core teaching lines in the Experimental Design Studio, which focuses on the systematic building of students' artistic programs throughout their studies, with a potential transition into professional practice. It leads to an understanding of the processes associated with creating products in series for the end user. These processes include, in addition to knowledge of technological procedures, production optimization, potential collaboration with external manufacturers, an emphasis on high craftsmanship quality, safety, and the quality of the content they communicate.
The task is to create a collection of products that, by utilizing the serial principle, can either evolve from previous projects or mark the beginning of a new project with the potential for long-term continuation. At this stage of development, the output may be a final collection of products or a collection presented in the form of models with the potential for further processing in real materials.
