This Master’s thesis explores the issue of boundaries, though perceived in a different context than is commonly understood. They are not addressed here in a geographical, political, or urban sense. Instead, I examine the problem of boundaries in relation to the human being as such—to the realm of human experience.
Through design and art, I seek solutions to problems caused by the internal boundaries created within the human mind, as these often have a profound impact on visible actions. The central motif of this work is the shadow and its various forms. The shadow symbolizes a place where light does not fall, or falls only partially. I have studied it both in real life and in a metaphorical sense. These dark spaces act as boundaries, obstructing a person's ability to function normally.
