Acoustic ecology
It is estimated that technology increases urban noise levels by an average of one decibel per year. Many medical professionals warn that excessive noise has a pathological impact on health, linked to an increase in cardiovascular disease, sleep disorders, fatigue, tension, and anxiety. Some cities are currently addressing this issue by introducing the role of an 'acoustic designer,' who regulates and enhances the city's soundscape through targeted interventions. The output of this project consists of two public lighting designs that transform the sound intensity of a given area into light projections. The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to address the issue of urban noise within a specific environment, to heighten awareness of the sights and sounds of the everyday world, and to develop strategies for managing and protecting the acoustic environment.
