Speculative evolution
A posthumanist vision of a zone marked by ecological disaster and war. The project focuses on contemplating an alternative evolution, visualized through a series of objects that spark discussion about a possible future ecosystem of the Donetsk Basin (Donbas) in eastern Ukraine. These are hypothetical artificial organisms that emerged at the intersection of technogenic and natural environments, devastated by intensive mining activities and Russian aggression. The work is an attempt to view the catastrophe through the prism of a potential evolution of life on Earth, where humans may no longer be the primary actors. From a design perspective, the project communicates the real-world problems of this region as an example of a local apocalypse—a cautionary tale for us all.
